The Wrights -- a husband-and-wife team of Adam and Shannon Wright -- first met in January 1998. Shannon, a club performer in Atlanta, got Adam's number from her cousin when she needed a lead guitarist for a show. Adam, who was working as a cook in Newnan, Ga., at the time, hit it off musically with her and they started working as a duo. However, they lost several standing gigs when they abandoned popular covers with music they had written.
As a result, they went back to day jobs so they could play at writer's nights. In time, they recruited a band, started booking their own shows, and fell in love. They moved to Nashville in 2002 and continued to work on their writing while still holding down day jobs. Their shows attracted a following and they signed to ACR Records owned by Alan Jackson, who is Adam's uncle. Keith Stegall and John Kelton produced the Wrights' debut album, scheduled for a May 2005 release. Adam and Shannon wrote the entire album.
